Akheth released their debut single ”The Asylum”.

Akheth is an internacional progressive symphonic metal project with members from various countries. The band was funded in 2016 by mexican-american born musician & songwriter Roberto Sunga, after recorded a demo song with canadian-iranian born artist and singer Mahafsoun in 2015. Dutch drummer Jeroen Simons (ex-Epica, Cassiopeia,…) joined the project after being away from metal music for over 10 years and recorded drums and percussion for the debut album. After this Mahafsoun recorded the female vocals for the album. Each member recorded their parts in their own countries.

”The Asylum” can be listen here:

After the recording sessions the album was mix by Brett Caldas-Lima (Ayreon, Devin Towmsend,…) in France.
Regarding the artwork the plan was to work with Seth Siro Anton (Septicflesh) but scheduling conflicts made this impossible and Travis Smith (Opeth, Cradle of Filth,…) was the artist chosen by Sunga to create the artwork.

During the down time, Roberto asked Mark Jansen from Epica if he’d be interested in recording guest grunts for ”The Asylum” single. After giving the song a few listens Mark agreed to do it and recorded his vocals during July in his home studio in Sicily, Italy.

It was also during this time that the canadian pianist, model and photographer Lillian Liu joined Akheth. She wrote piano parts over the existing song and recorded them at Monarch Studios in Vancouver. After Brett Caldas-Lima added Lillian’s piano and Mark’s vocals to the song, the ultimate version of ”The Asylum” was finally ready to be unleashed.
