Ex-Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul passed away

Co-founder of the legendary metal band Pantera, has died at the age of 54. Vinnie was a member of Hellyeah.

His representative confirmed the legendary drummer’s death to Billboard, but added that no further details are available at this time.

The official Pantera facebook page has published a statement:

Vinnie Paul and his brother “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott co-founded Pantera. When Pantera broke up in 2003, they formed DamagePlan. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DamagePlan at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by Nathan Gale. He was 38 years old.

Since 2006, Paul was the drummer for Hellyeah, a heavy metal supergroup that also includes Mudvayne vocalist Chad Gray and Nothingface guitarist Tom Maxwell.

Vinnie Paul was in a non-speaking relationship with singer Phillip Anselmo.
