GHOST have just announced their biggest world tour to date, the Skelatour World Tour 2025, which will take place at Lisbon’s MEO Arena on April 29, 2025. It’s almost impossible to overstate how far GHOST have come since they were first conceived in Tobias Forge’s imagination at the beginning of the 21st century. Over the nearly 20 years since their inception in Linköping, Sweden, GHOST have become much more than Scandinavia’s greatest theatrical rock export. The band’s accumulated achievements and awards across the discography include nearly 10 billion streams, five GRAMMY nominations (including a 2016 win for Best Metal Performance for Cirice), an RIAA-certified platinum single (Mary on a Cross), an American Music Award and an iHeart Radio Music Award (both for Best Rock Album for IMPERA, which reached No. 1 on the international charts in 2022). GHOST’s ambitions have continued to grow exponentially, recently culminating in the highest-grossing rock cinema event in North American history with the premiere of their film RITE HERE RITE NOW. As the band strengthens its bonds with its global legion of kindred spirits who come together for its live rituals, it is no exaggeration to describe GHOST — and the unique and intense connection that forms between its loyal followers and the universe created by Forge — as a singular global phenomenon.
“There Is Something Inside Me And They Don’t Know If There Is A Cure” Having spent the last few years captivating their devoted following on an extensive tour – stretching from before IMPERA’s release in March 2022 through to its grand finale in the US on 11th and 12th September 2023 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles (documented in the box office smash RITE HERE RITE NOW) – GHOST’s next creative direction has proven to be a deeply introductory journey. This inner dive into Forge’s creative process resulted in SKELETÁ: a collection of 10 new songs that cut as deep as (in)humanly possible.
“And The Road That Leads To Nowhere Is Long” Produced by Gene Walker and mixed by Andy Wallace and Dan Malsch, SKELETÁ is GHOST’s most intimately introspective work to date. While the band’s previous albums explored broader themes — like IMPERA’s reflections on the rise and fall of empires or Prequelle’s evocations of era-defining plagues — SKELETÁ focuses on individual emotional landscapes, portrayed personally and directly on each of its 10 tracks, like a dialogue with one’s own reflection. The result is a singular collection of timeless and universal feelings, filtered through a unique perspective. However, SKELETÁ is more than the sum of its parts: the songs form a thematic arc that begins with the epic rise of Peacefield, delves into increasingly dark spiritual territories with the melancholic melodies of Lachryma, the demonic first single Satanized and the introspective ballad Guiding Lights.
“Where Ever I Go You’re Always There Riding Next To Me” The second half of SKELETÁ charts a path through this darkness, back to the unbridled optimism of its opening. Pillars of this journey include Cenotaph, which suggests the transcendence of existence beyond the physical grave, Marks of the Evil One, which contrasts ominous portents with a joyful refrain “There! There!”, and Umbra, which takes on a decidedly carnal tone. The album closes grandly with Excelsis, where seemingly funereal intonations actually convey a promise of eternal life — consolidating SKELETÁ’s central theme: the certainty that all dark eras and periods of mourning eventually come to an end.
“Come with me To The Rainbow’s End” SKELETÁ will come to life on the upcoming SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025, GHOST’s most ambitious tour to date. With over 55 dates already announced — including a historic headlining debut at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden — and more dates to be revealed, SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025 promises to further expand the GHOST community, attracting its widest and most diverse audience to date. From longtime disciples to first-time curious outsiders and outsiders who find refuge in the ritual, all are welcome to escape the tribulations of everyday life and become part of the ghostly spectacle that has led the Los Angeles Times to declare, “When it comes to live performances, they’re one of the best bands around,” and the Wall Street Journal to proclaim GHOST as “the next generation of arena stars.”
SKELETÁ will be released on April 25, 2025 via Loma Vista Recordings.
