It’s not often you see so many bands of such high caliber on the same line up outside of big festivals. Those into hard rock and the stoner scene were in for a treat. It was a Sunday night but that still didn’t stop hundreds of people showing up at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London for a night of beers, riffs, and good times.

Black Moth had the misfortune of playing just 10 minutes after doors opened. People were still queuing outside as the first notes of “Istra” started playing. It’s a shame that the organizers decided to not open the doors a little bit earlier to allow for more people to get in and be able to enjoy the show. Unfazed by this, the band from Leeds (UK) did what they always do and played a great show with a smile on their faces and constantly keeping the audience connected. It was short and sweet, playing mostly songs from their latest album “Anatomical Venus” and ending with the song “Black Birds” from their first album “The Killing Jar”, a show about quality and not numbers.

Next up were Fireball Ministry, a band that brings to the table that classic American flavor of hard rock, a self-proclaimed church of rock’n’roll. The crowds were starting to take proper shape by this time and as beer kept flowing inhibitions started to fade, giving way to some headbanging. The band played a mix of old and new including some fan-favorites such as “King” from the album “The Second Great Awakening”. Overall a good performance but still it felt that something was missing.

Orange Goblin got on stage and immediately the tone in the venue changed. The mood set by singer Ben Ward with his constant engagement with the audience was: “It’s a Sunday night, people should probably be home dreading going back to work the next day, but we don’t care, we’re still going to have a good time and drink some beer”. The band set the bar high for the evening with their show, they were true crowd-pleasers from start to finish. With their latest album “The Wolf Bites Back” released only a few months ago, the set list obviously included mostly songs from that album, but it was with the crowd singing along to “Red Tide Rising” from the album “A Eulogy For The Damned” that the band finished the last show of their UK tour.

Last but certainly not least, we saw the desert scene legends Corrosion of Conformity take the stage who had big shoes to fill after the performance by Orange Goblin. Although they didn’t manage to pull as enthusiastic reactions from the crowd, it was still a solid performance. With their latest album “No Cross No Crown” released almost a year ago, the band went for a more varied set-list, with slightly bigger emphasis on songs from the album “Deliverance”.
