Report: Ensiferum + Cruz de Ferro @ Paradise Garage

Great evening in Paradise Garage for the long waited return of Ensiferum to Portugal.

Invited to the show were Cruz de Ferro, classic heavy metal singed in Portuguese, proudly has the band said. It was a good warm up from a band with great muscled riffs and a strong voice but most unknown to the public, except for a few fans. They had a good interaction with the audience, playing also some new songs that will appear on a future album to be released in December. The reactions were diverse but the band delivered a good show with the time they had.

Then the march of war started playing to end the anxiety on the room, and the people started calling for Ensiferum. The band was highly surprised with the response of the crowd, singing along, yelling, and turning the venue into a very sweaty hot place. They started with “Axe of Judgment” and “Heathen Horde” straight from the last acclaimed album “One Man Army”. The interaction of the band with the audience couldn’t be better, as the bass player Sami Hinkka, the guitarist Petri Lindroos, and the new recent arrival Netta Skog on the accordion, were always pushing the public a bit further and asking for more mosh pits, keeping up the great performance that the band always shown. Songs from the first two albums like “Token of Time”, “Battle Song”, “Lai Lai Hei”, and the track that ended the gig “Iron” were some of those who received with more enthusiasm from the crowd. There was also time for a little gypsy party, with sombreros and a lot of clapping in the cover “Bamboleo” from the Gipsy Kings, not before we went to a heavy dancing floor in “Two of Spades”. To end, the jumping on “Burning Leaves” was incredible, showing the real communion of the fans with the band. A night to remember on Paradise.
