Once again, a heavy night awaited those who did not mind the rain to go support the underground bands.
Starting quite late (~1.30AM), Blame The Skies couldn’t make it, so the first band to step on stage was THIRDSPHERE from Castelo Branco. The band delivered their melodic Death/Heavy metal to the few people in the audience, starting off by introducing their latest EP “Ice” with the songs “Thirdsphere” and “Worthless Prayer”. Immediately going back to the first EP “Fire”, Soul Confined” was the following song. As the sound mixing got better, vocalist Nuno leaded the band to a more comfortable mood. In general, a good show, which was ended with “United By Blood”.
After a few minutes and the usual gear changing, GATES OF HELL came to showcase their first full length-album “Critical Obsession”, released this year. Frontman Raça made it quite clear how they were glad to return to a city that has welcomed them before. “Psycothic Break” was the trigger to a great performance by a group of guys who know what they’re doing and have been doing it for a while. Groovier and heavier as each song was played, the sound quality improved as well, resulting in a bigger “wall of sound” effect. The last tunes were “Into My Destruction” followed by “Critical Obsession”.
In conclusion, it was a good night, cheap ticket (€3) which started too late and deserved more people in the audience. You can watch a video here.
