Report: Moita Metal Fest 2015 Day #1

The 12th edition of Moita Metal Fest took place on the 27th and 28th of March, where 17 bands left their mark on the festival stage.

Day 1

Only a few minutes after the due time, JACKIE D. played the first musical notes of the night, the party had officially begun. Despite being in a still half empty room, the group let their rock vibe flow. The band presented a set list mostly made of songs from their debut album, “Symphonies of the City”. A group with a pure rock n roll soul, with some touches of stoner and punk in the middle, slowly have awoken the audience and started to heat the ambience.
The house band, SWITCHTENSE, was up next. Due to a last minute problem, change places in the lineup. Playing home, they did not disappoint and caused a wild commotion in the audience. The band presented two new songs, “All or Nothing” and “Super Fucking Mainstream”, which will be on the band’s next studio release. The show was everything you could expect from this group, chaotic and loud, with the presence of the first circle pits and stage divers of the night.
TERROR EMPIRE continued the mood for destruction and chaos in the audience. Despite a few problems prior to the show, the band showed that they’re way too professional to let that influence their performance. They presented a set list made entirely with songs from their latest record, “The Empire Strikes Black”, and the public responded very well to it, being an enthusiastic and intense gig.
IBERIA, an old-school heavy metal act came up next. With a set list full of classics, the band brought us back to simpler times, where heavy metal was the law, and surprised everyone with their unstoppable energy on stage. The public responded very well, and for the younger crowed it was a lesson on how to rock in style.
MORE THAN A THOUSAND ended the night on a high note. From the first moment they stepped on that stage the ambience was intense and cozy, with a lot of stage diving and mosh. The audience participation on the show was a constant and encouraged by the band, which even let some of them sing the chorus of a few songs. The set list had no surprises and had mostly songs from their latest record, “Vol. 5 – Lost at Home”, without forgetting some of the groups past hits, like “We Wrote This Song About You”, that had a special guest, Fábio Baptista from Hills Have Eyes, “Nothing But Mistakes” and “No Bad Blood”.
