Hollywood Vampires – Hollywood Vampires

Alice Cooper had the idea of making a covers band, and called some friends to jump on this night flight trough rock n’roll in Hollywood while we take a sip of wine and dust off or best leather jacket. Some of the guests on this trip are Johnny Deep, Joe Perry, Perry Farrell, Dave Grohl, Brian Johnson, Sir Christopher Lee and Slash to name a few. The journey begins with Sir Christopher Lee opening the gates to what’s coming, but it’s on “My Generation” that the listener starts to get the vibe of the album. “Whole Lotta Love” and “Jeepster” are nice tributes, but the combo “Five To One / Break On Trough (To The Otherside)” by The Doors is the first great surprise of the album, a risky step but nothing that scares this supergroup. Actually there’s more combo tracks on the record, “One / Jump In The Fire” and “School’s Out / Another Brick In The Wall”, which makes it very different from what we get nowadays on a cover’s album, almost taking the listener to enter the cave and get around in the jam. By the end on “My Dead Drunk Friends” we get the idea that this is not just another record of covers, but it kind of have a charm of his own. Is this a supergroup? Is this just something Alice Cooper had in mind to run away from his own theatre? Take a listening, and find out for yourself.
