The first Steelfest edition of this decade, and the 10th anniversary of this extreme festival, will be the most ambitious ever.
The festival will be held once again at Villatehdas in Hyvinkää, and it will comprise over four days completely filled with live shows – 50 bands in total!! Special events will be held on Sunday (more on that later) to celebrate the anniversary of what quickly has become the biggest black and death metal gathering in Finland, bringing together bands and fans from all over the world.
The town is conveniently located less than one hour from Helsinki and from the airport Helsinki-Vantaa. It can be easily reached by car and by train (which run late at night, making it possible to return to Helsinki after the last band’s performance).
Over the years Steelfest has distinguished itself for its uncompromising selection of extreme acts, something that has made the festival grow in popularity among the loyal hordes of fans. Simultaneously, the festival has always managed to keep alive the interest in the event, bringing every time something new on stage, along with many fan favorites.
Non surprisingly, the festival has also been the target of controversy especially during the last year (an extensive interview on this and on the origin of the festival can be found on Bardo Methodology here and here. Nonetheless, it has also a strong community of supporters, as proven for instance during the last two years when the festival could not happen due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2022 edition has more than 40 bands confirmed so far (as the festival approaches, the last announcements will be expected soon):
For the first time the festival will take place over 4 days, and on the Sunday there will also be a pre-festival barbecue feast “Sunday Bacchanal” starting at 14:00 (detailed info here – this event requires a separate entry ticket), as well as a blacksmith event aptly named “Steel & Fire”, in which several blacksmiths from all over Finland will participate and have the chance to showcase their skills (details here).
Tickets to the festival are available via Tiketti.fi.
Tickets for the Sunday Bacchanal can be purchased here.
The official schedule of the event will be released at later date on the official event’s channels, for this and more info on the festival, including various accommodation possibilities, visit the Official site or follow the official Facebook page.
Update:
– Nifelheim and Cadaver recently had to cancel their participation to this year’s event!
