Drummer Phil Baheux of the Belgian metal band Channel Zero has passed away on Aug. 10 at 45 years old.

Although the cause of death has not been confirmed, the band has issued a statement regarding Baheux’s passing, saying:

“It is with great sadness that Channel Zero must announce the death of their brother and drummer Phil Baheux. The death of Phil Baheux (age 45) this morning is a terrible shock to the members of the group and the crew. We ask you to respect the privacy of his family and the group.”

Billy Torney of Channel Zero’s record label CNR Records has also commented on Baheux’s passing, telling HLN:

“I cannot comment on the exact cause of death, but 45 years is obviously still very young.”

After disbanding in 1997, Channel Zero reunited in 2010 to perform at a handful of shows and started working on new music. Their last album ‘Feed’em With a Brick’ was released on Roadrunner Records in 2011.

Baheux was one of Channel Zero’s founding members, starting the band in 1990 with bassist Tino De Martino and singer Franky De Smet-Van Damme.
