It’s that time of the year, festival season, and one of the biggest metal festivals in Portugal is back, for its 8 consecutive year, although it comes with a different name and location. The event previously known as Vagos Open Air, moved to Quinta da Marialva in Corroios, and change its name to VOA Fest. It will take place on the 5th and 6th of August, and has 12 bands in the billing, six for each day.

The honors of opening the event has fallen upon to Dark Oath, a Portuguese melodic death metal group that has just released their debut effort, “When Fire Engulfs The Earth”. Their performance will be followed by those of Adimiron, Mantar, Katatonia (returning after six years and with a new record), Anathema and Opeth will also return to the VOA fest and for many it will be one of the highest points of the festival. The following day will start with the exhibition of the documentary “Blackhearts” (trailer available below), and then moving on to the musical attractions, thus proving that they are more than a simple musical festival. The opening act of the day is Soldier from Spain, followed by Equaleft one of the most outstanding acts in the Portuguese underground scene. Next, Black Metal invades the festival with Schammasch, and the highly awaited Abbath. Paradise Lost, were a last minute add to the poster since they were the chosen band to replaced Anthrax who cancelled their show, will slow things down but still keeping it heavy and Kreator always promise one hell of a show. A very strong band roster for this year’s edition of the VOA Fest which will delight thousands of fans!

The tickets are available for the price of 5o euro (2 day pass) and 35 euro (single day ticket). The map of the venue, and its surroundings, is already available and can be seen in here.
