Report Galena III: Inner Blast + Falcatra de Fogo + Urze de Lume

On the afternoon of Saturday, December 17, occurred in the “Another Place” in Almada the third edition of Galena.

A small celebration of the winter solstice, in the familiar and cozy atmosphere the visitors could experience a workshop of traditional bagpipes and percussion while the room prepared for the concerts of Inner Blast, Falcatra de Fogo and Urze de Lume.
First of was Inner Blast, whom opened the stage with “Private Nation” exposing a gothic and theatrical atmosphere combined with heavy instrumentation and the surprising vocals, often clean vocals alternating with guttural by vocalist Liliana. They played 7 tracks from the “Prophecy” album, that ranges from gothic songs with death metal tracks to more dramatic songs like “Inner Fire” and “Time Machine” and ending the show with “Fell the Storm” Inner Fire song. Overall the crowd enjoyed it, leaving some people surprised by the band’s performance.
Next up was Falcata de Fogo, an ambient folk band from Torres Vedras. They began the celebration with bagpipes and drums songs. Their “zen” like sound invited the people to celebrate the beginning of winter like their ancestors. The ambience created by them, drove audience into the spirit, calming  down and turning to themselves to a state of inner peace, enjoying a mixture of feelings combined with sensations caused by the music in a collective meditation.
The closing of the night was hte responsability of Urze de Lume. With dark folk songs, the band brought us some myths and legends in the form of music. Their performance began to be quite calm and nostalgic, with songs such as “Memórias de Inverno”, making us enter in a mythical trip with frosts, and the thunders which ended up awakening the spirit of celebration. This was followed by more lived with songs from “Caminhos de Urze” album. This caused audience to react by dancing, jumping and spinning freely to the rhythm of their music.
