Report: Hammerfall + Armored Dawn @ Pumpehuset, Copenhagen

In a warm October evening (18.10.2018) one of the best power metal bands, Hammerfall, visited the capital of Denmark to shake its ground with their hammer. Hammerfall with the support of Armored Dawn played a sold out show organised by Pumpehuset together with Live Nation Denmark.

The concert was opened by Brazilian band called Armored Dawn. The band managed to present themselves as a high quality power metal piece with a very nice performance. During their set they were able to convince the audience about their quality providing a vey enjoyable show. They played few of their fast tracks intercalated with their more melodic songs. They even managed to convince the fans to sing along the ballad called ‘Sail Away’, which is an unusual feat for the not so well known opening acts.

After the around 45 minutes of music presented by the vikings of Brazil, it was time for the proper scandinavian hammering. The first one to get on stage was Oscar Dronjak with his characteristic guitar shaped like a Vikings hammer bulling the first sounds from the strings. Then all started in a nice and controlled chaos, on stage and in the fully sold out venue. The crowd was more than happy to see their idols performing, which opened in a fast pace with ‘Hector’s Hymn’ to move smoothly to the more rhythmic ‘Riders of the Storm’. At this point the atmosphere was already very hot, and after a nice warm up the crowd totally lost it and started a proper power metal party with the first tunes of the ‘Renegade’. Hammerfall continued the evening delivering almost non stop song after song with a very high level performance. Pontus Norgren was in great form and the provided short solos were top class. Oscar Dronjak voice was brilliant – he was hitting all the notes while running and jumping around the stage. Hammerfall delivered a nice piece of music for headbanging, ‘B.Y.H. (Bang Your Head)’. The main part of the set was closed with their hit song ‘Let the Hammer Fall’. After a short break, the band returned for a 3 song encore to close the evening. This was a very nice concert in a fully packed Pumpehuset, flawless with a well-paced tempo that kept the audience fully committed to the show. Hammerfall made a very good job and provided nice memories to many of their fans.

Thank you to Live Nation Denmark for the press & photo accreditation.
