Avatar return to Portugal with a new epic-scale spectacle

AVATAR will return to Portugal in 2026 with a new epic-scale spectacle, part of the most ambitious European tour ever undertaken by the Swedish band.
“This tour will surpass everything we have done before — not only in scale, but in ambition. This is what we live for, and this is what we promise.” — Johannes Eckerström, vocalist of AVATAR

Ladies and gentlemen, creatures of the night, and friends of the strange — prepare yourselves. AVATAR are back and, on 27 February 2026, they promise to transform LAV – Lisboa Ao Vivo into a stage of theatrical chaos and sinister exuberance. The Swedish band return to Portugal with New Zealanders ALIEN WEAPONRY as special guests and with their largest production to date, as part of a colossal European tour that will take them from Stockholm to Berlin, via London, Paris, Madrid and, of course, Lisbon.

With the theatrical spirit that defines them and a visual production that is expected to be nothing short of overwhelming, AVATAR return with, quite literally, everything — and for everyone. A metallic ritual for those seeking something beyond the conventional, something that challenges the senses and embraces the strange with pomp and circumstance. Johannes Eckerström, the irreverent vocalist and master of ceremonies of the Swedish troupe, promises that this upcoming tour will redefine the band’s standards: “We are addicted to intensity! No matter how much praise we have received for our live performances, we feel we are only just beginning. This tour will surpass everything we have done before — not only in scale, but in ambition. This is what we live for, and this is what we promise.”

About The Author

I’m a photographer and videographer with a strong focus on metal music coverage. One of the things I enjoy most is photographing bands live, capturing the raw energy of the stage, the intensity of the performance, and each project’s visual identity. I studied Fine Arts and Multimedia, and later continued my training in Documentary Cinema and Film Directing. That background directly shapes how I work: with a narrative eye, close attention to detail, and a commitment to authenticity in both photography and video.
