Symphonic Power Metal giants Kamelot have officially announced their upcoming new studio album, titled DARK ASYLUM, which is set to release on August 28 through Napalm Records.
Marking the band’s 14th studio work, DARK ASYLUM unfolds within a dark Neo-Victorian-era setting, centred around RavenHill Asylum, which was once built as a grand cathedral and is now repurposed into a place where science, faith, and madness uneasily coexist.
About the upcoming album, Kamelot founder and guitarist Thomas Youngblood released the following statement:
Dark Asylum follows a soul trapped inside a world of masks, fractured memories, and psychological torment, wandering the endless halls of RavenHill in search of truth, identity, and redemption. What begins as a descent into darkness gradually transforms into a journey of awakening, where beneath the fear, illusion, and chaos lies the possibility of healing, hope, and ultimately a path out of the shadows into Sanctuary. The album explores the duality between despair and salvation, blurring the lines between reality and madness through theatrical storytelling, haunting atmospheres, and deeply emotional themes.
Lead singer Tommy Karevik expands on the concept, describing DARK ASYLUM as “a journey where every door reveals a different story, yet all remain deeply connected.

DARK ASYLUM also features a lineup of guest musicians that further expand the album’s atmosphere, such as Ignacia Fernández, Clémentine Delauney, Rannveig Sif Sigurðardóttir, Sólveig Sara Leupold and Lea-Sophie Fischer.
As far as the album production goes, the new Kamelot’s effort will be mixed by Sascha Paeth and Jacob Hansen
