SWR Inc. has officially announced the first wave of artists confirmed for the upcoming SWR Barroselas Metalfest 2026, scheduled to take place between April 29 and May 2, 2026. The initial reveal comprises 20 acts and offers an early indication of the festival’s continued dedication to the most uncompromising forms of extreme music.
Heading the announcement are internationally renowned names such as Revenge, Exhumed, Bulldozer, and Primitive Man. These are joined by a diverse range of artists spanning multiple subgenres, including Darvaza, Gruesome, Caustic Wound, -16-, and Thy Light.
Further reinforcing the depth of the lineup are Century, Mortiferum, Nubivagant, Venefixion and Swedish act Obstruktion. The strong presence of the Portuguese underground is also evident, with confirmed appearances from Genocide, The Ominous Circle, Pestifer, and Anzv. Completing this first announcement are Spanish black metal veterans Balmog and Brazilian thrashers Deathgeist.
The balance between national and international acts once again reflects the curatorial identity that has defined the festival over the years. Even at this early stage, the breadth and consistency of the programme suggest a lineup that, while only partially revealed, already presents a compelling proposition for followers of extreme music.
X-Mas Pack
As is customary, SWR Inc. has also made available the annual “X-mas Pack,” which includes a full festival pass alongside exclusive merchandise such as a specially designed t-shirt, a mug, and a bag. The package is now available for purchase, offering both a practical and collectable option for attendees preparing for another edition of one of Europe’s most respected underground metal gatherings.
