SWR Barroselas Metalfest, one of the oldest, most respected and contested festivals dedicated to extreme sonorities in the old continent, will return to Vila de Barroselas, Viana do Castelo, on April 26, 27 and 28, 2019. The first round of confirmations for the 22nd edition of the event includes fifteen proposals of undeniable quality. Fifteen names representative of the best that is done in terms of sonic extremism and that promise to satisfy everyone.
The greatest highlight of this first wave of confirmations goes to GODFLESH and BENEDICTION. Two legendary names, both of British origin, who emerged in the transition from the 80s to the 90s, each in its own way: industrial and death metal. Equally important, but from a different generation, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and MIDNIGHT arrive in Minho from the United States and, in their pocket, they bring modern death metal and retro blackdeathrash, respectively.
The event, which has always been balanced by established names and emerging talent, has already guaranteed the presence on the SWR stage of the Swedes BIRDFLESH, Germans VENENUM, American EAGLE TWIN and IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT, New Zealand BARSHASKETH, French SUBLIME CADAVERIC DECOMPOSITION, British VACIVUS and the much applauded Brazilian thrashers NERVOSA.
As far as Portuguese representation is concerned, SWR Barroselas Metalfest continues to focus on confirmed talent, new values and unique performances, of which MARTELO NEGRO and NAMEK are good examples. The first are about to release a new album and the second will again break the hiatus. Also, prepare your necks for ANALEPSY’s ultra-brutal death metal.
