Colombian death metal band Masacre are set to perform in Porto for the first time on 23 July, with a concert at M.Ou.Co. promoted by Paraform Live.
The event marks a significant moment for the Portuguese extreme music circuit, presenting one of South America’s earliest and most influential death metal acts to a local audience.
Formed in 1988 in Medellín, Masacre are widely regarded as pioneers of Colombian death metal. Emerging during a period of social instability in their home country, the band developed a sound characterised by aggressive structures, dark thematic elements and an early adoption of the stylistic foundations of the genre. Over the following decades, they established a discography that includes releases such as Reqviem, Sacro and Total Death, contributing to their status within the Latin American extreme metal scene.
The Porto performance is presented as a special event within their European touring schedule, with Paraform Live confirming the concert as the band’s first appearance in Portugal. The show will also be professionally filmed and recorded for an upcoming DVD release, adding an additional layer of significance for both the band and attendees.
The line-up will include Porto-based support act Repugnator, alongside a DJ set by Fernando Ribeiro of Moonspell, extending the programme beyond the main performance and reinforcing the connection between international and local extreme music communities.
Masacre’s long-standing presence in death metal has been defined by consistency and an uncompromising musical approach, allowing them to maintain relevance across multiple generations of extreme music listeners. Their debut in Portugal reflects both the band’s continued touring activity and the sustained interest in early Latin American death metal within European underground circuits.
