Stonehenge Festival 2027 unveils first bands following its 30th Anniversary Edition

While Stonehenge Festival 2026 celebrates the event’s 30th anniversary, the organisers have already turned their attention to next year, revealing the first names for Stonehenge Festival 2027. Scheduled for 24 July 2027 in Steenwijk, the Netherlands, the festival continues its long-standing commitment to underground extreme metal, announcing an opening wave that includes Krisiun, Misery Index, Origin, Triptykon, Pestilence, Cryptosis, Putashed, and Author, with additional artists expected to follow.

Since its foundation in 1995, Stonehenge Festival has developed into one of the Netherlands’ longest-running underground metal events. What began as a local gathering has gradually evolved into an internationally recognised festival, welcoming artists from across Europe and North America while maintaining its independent identity and close relationship with the underground scene. Rather than pursuing large-scale commercial expansion, the festival has remained faithful to its original philosophy of presenting established names alongside emerging acts, a balance that continues to define its programming three decades later.

The first announcement for the 2027 edition reflects that philosophy. Death metal veterans Pestilence and Brazilian extreme metal pioneers Krisiun will appear alongside technical death metal specialists Origin, industrially influenced Swiss extreme metal icons Triptykon, American deathgrind outfit Misery Index, as well as Author & Punisher, and more already confirmed. The result is a line-up that spans multiple branches of extreme music while remaining firmly rooted in the festival’s underground ethos. With more announcements expected in the coming months, Stonehenge Festival 2027 is already shaping a programme that honours its history while continuing to showcase the diversity of contemporary extreme metal.

Formed in Ijuí, Brazil, in 1990 by brothers Alex Camargo, Moyses Kolesne, and Max Kolesne, Krisiun have become one of the defining names in South American death metal. Renowned for their uncompromising speed, technical precision and relentless live performances, the trio has built an international reputation through albums such as Black Force Domain, Conquerors of Armageddon, AssassiNation and Mortem Solis. Unlike many contemporaries, Krisiun have maintained remarkable stability throughout their career, with the founding members remaining at the core of the band for more than three decades. Their consistent artistic direction, extensive international touring and influence on successive generations of extreme metal musicians have firmly established them among the most respected death metal bands to emerge from Latin America, making their return to Stonehenge Festival one of the early highlights of the 2027 programme.
