The Ocean will return to Portugal on February 2, 2027, for a concert at República da Música in Lisbon. The German collective, led by guitarist and songwriter Robin Staps, will be joined by British artist A.A. Williams as special guest.

The concert comes at an important point in The Ocean’s career, following the release of Solaris, the band’s twelfth studio album and the first to feature their substantially renewed line-up. Released in September 2026 through Pelagic Records, the album marks a new phase for a project that has spent more than two decades moving between post-metal, progressive metal, experimental music and atmospheric composition.

Solaris retains several of the elements that have defined The Ocean’s catalogue, while introducing new voices and musicians to the band’s established framework. Alongside Staps and long-time bassist Mattias Hägerstrand, the current formation features drummer Jordi Farré, vocalists Lane Shi and Enrico Tiberi, and guitarists Emmanuel Jessua and Marco Gennaro.

The album draws inspiration from Andrei Tarkovsky’s 1972 film Solaris, continuing The Ocean’s long-standing interest in conceptual records that connect their music with broader themes and ideas. The result also represents an opportunity for the band to reassess its sound following the end of the previous line-up, while maintaining the balance between heaviness, progressive structures and expansive atmospheres that has characterised its work.

A.A. Williams will open the evening with material from Solstice, her third album, released in 2026. Her work combines elements of post-rock, doom, metal and intimate songwriting, creating a contrast between restrained passages and heavier arrangements. Her previous touring history includes appearances alongside artists such as Cult of Luna, Russian Circles, Sleep Token and Chelsea Wolfe.

The combination of both artists places the Lisbon date within a broader space between atmospheric music, progressive metal and more introspective forms of heavy music. For The Ocean, the concert will also provide an opportunity to present the Solaris era to Portuguese audiences with the band’s new formation.

The Ocean and A.A. Williams will perform at República da Música on February 2, 2027. Tickets go on sale on October 8 at 09:00 through Ticketline, participating stores, Free Music, Unkind and Masqueticket.
