Insanu Metal Fest 2026 returns with Godiva and Portuguese Heavy Music

Insanu Metal Fest returns with a strong showcase of Portuguese Heavy Music

The Insanu Metal Fest returns for its second edition on 25 July 2026, transforming the Parque Urbano de Seroa into a meeting point for Portugal’s heavy music community. With free admission and a line-up exclusively dedicated to national acts, the festival continues its commitment to promoting Portuguese metal while offering audiences an accessible event that celebrates the diversity of the country’s underground scene.

Beginning at 19:00, the festival will feature performances by Godiva, Blame Zeus, Firemage, The Small Hours and Brainless Duck. Although each band represents a different branch of heavy music, the programme reflects the stylistic variety that characterises the Portuguese metal scene today, ranging from melodic and progressive influences to modern heavy metal, hard rock and contemporary alternative sounds.

Among the featured artists, Godiva arrive as one of Portugal’s most established modern metal acts, while Blame Zeus continue to blend traditional heavy metal with hard rock and melodic songwriting. Firemage bring their fantasy-inspired folk metal, incorporating elements of Iberian folklore into an epic musical framework, whereas The Small Hours and Brainless Duck complete the bill with performances that further underline the breadth of the national underground.

Hosted in the open-air setting of Parque Urbano de Seroa, Insanu Metal Fest continues to distinguish itself through its community-oriented approach. Rather than relying on international names, the festival focuses on showcasing Portuguese talent, creating opportunities for established and emerging bands to perform before a wider audience while strengthening connections within the local metal community. Free admission further reinforces this philosophy, encouraging both dedicated followers and newcomers to engage with the national scene.

Although still in its early years, Insanu Metal Fest reflects the continued growth of independent heavy music events across Portugal. Alongside larger festivals, smaller initiatives such as this contribute to sustaining local scenes, supporting artists and expanding opportunities for live performance. By presenting a carefully selected line-up of Portuguese bands in an accessible environment, the festival continues to establish its own identity within the country’s underground calendar.

Leading this year’s programme, Godiva have become one of the most recognisable names in contemporary Portuguese metal. Formed in the late 1990s, the band has consistently combined groove metal, melodic death metal and modern extreme metal influences while maintaining a strong emphasis on technical musicianship and memorable songwriting. Across several studio albums and extensive touring throughout Portugal and Europe, Godiva have steadily refined their sound without abandoning the aggression that defines their music. Their longevity, commitment to the national scene and continued evolution have established them as one of Portugal’s most respected heavy metal bands, making them a fitting headliner for the second edition of Insanu Metal Fest.
