The Local Band, came together one day when Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom guitarist) and Jussi 69 (The 69 Eyes drummer), luckily for us, were sitting on a bar having a drink and had this idea of forming a project where they could have as much fun as they could without any compromise. The idea was to do just one show and they invited Olli Hermann (Reckless Love vocals), and Archie Cruz for bass (Santa Cruz), to join the band and did a gig that went more than well in Helsinki. Some few gigs followed, and now they recorded an EP called Locals Only. For a joke, so to speak, we have here some very risky covers, a little bit 80’s pop, and little bit hard rock, but a lot funny. The EP has everything a not serious record could have like sticky chorus has you’ll hear in the single “Sunglasses At Night”, “Out Of the Darkness”, and “Hazy Shade of Winter”. There’s also room for great rock moments like “Untouched”, and “Promises in the Dark”, also if we want to dance there’s “The Darkest Side of The Night”. When we thought that the Finns forgot about heavy metal for an instance, there’s a great cover of Ozzy Osbourne to close this joke called “Waiting For Darkness”. Surprising or not, seems like the audience is embracing this side project. Let’s hopethat the guys could have more funny moments like this, without losing focus on their main projects.
