Samhain Festival 2026 strengthens its commitment to Extreme Metal

On 24 and 25 October 2026, Samhain Festival will return to Muziekgieterij for its fourth edition, continuing to establish itself as one of the Low Countries’ most distinctive festivals dedicated to black, doom and atmospheric metal. Formed in Halifax, England, in 1988, Paradise Lost are widely recognised as one of the defining bands in the development of gothic metal while remaining deeply rooted in the traditions of doom and death metal. Emerging from the influential Yorkshire scene, the group established its reputation through landmark releases including Gothic, Icon, Draconian Times and The Plague Within, albums that demonstrated a remarkable willingness to evolve without abandoning their distinctive melancholic identity. Throughout more than three decades, Paradise Lost have incorporated elements of death metal, gothic rock, dark wave and traditional doom into a consistently recognisable sound shaped by the songwriting partnership of guitarist Gregor Mackintosh and vocalist Nick Holmes.
