Sun And Thunder Festival will return to Marenostrum Fuengirola between 27 and 29 August 2026 for its second edition, presenting a programme dedicated to the broad spectrum of heavy music.
Set against the Mediterranean coastline, the event combines internationally established artists with contemporary acts from different areas of the metal scene.
The 2026 edition brings together names representing several generations and styles of heavy music. The line-up includes projects such as Avantasia, the symphonic metal opera created by Tobias Sammet, whose career has expanded through collaborations with musicians from across the international metal community. Other established acts include German power metal band Primal Fear, veterans of the European heavy metal scene since their formation in 1997, and German thrash metal pioneers Destruction, whose career began in 1982 as part of the early thrash movement.
The festival also presents artists from more recent generations of metal. Portuguese black metal act Gaerea, recognised for their atmospheric and contemporary approach to the genre, shares the bill with Austrian post-black metal Harakiri For The Sky, while Finnish hard rock group Lordi brings its long-standing theatrical identity following international recognition after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006.
Fox Group’s vision for Sun And Thunder 2026 continues to focus on creating a specialised event where different expressions of metal can coexist in the same setting.
The festival’s format allows audiences to experience established names alongside emerging projects such as All For Metal, Calva Louise, Adam and The Metal Hawks, Eivor, Nefarious, Debler, Vendetta FM, Soen and other acts completing the programme.
With a combination of classic heavy metal, power metal, thrash metal, extreme metal and alternative approaches, Sun And Thunder 2026 further establishes its place within the European summer festival calendar.
