Santa Maria Summer Fest (SMSF) is an extreme music festival located in Beja, Southern Portugal that has been happening since 2010. The festival is mostly known for its eclectic stance on music genres within its billing – here what matters is not only the sound, but the message and visual as well, meaning that you can find acts ranging from metal, to punk and even hip-hop and experimental music. It only needs to be extreme. The next edition will happen in 8,9 and 10 of June and will count with names like Exodus, Krisiun and Orphaned Land.
Before that a ”warm-up” event will take place in Cave 45, Porto. The bands chosen are Psychonaut 4, Nocturnal Depression (both beginning a joint european tour) and guests to be announced.
Psychonaut 4 is a Post Suicidal Black Metal band from Georgia. Founded in 2010, the quickly gained notoriety with the first demo and in 2012 they released the first LP ”Have a Nice Trip”. Always releasing new songs through splits and singles, they recorded two more studio albums in 2015 and 2016. This is the first time the band plays in Portugal.
Nocturnal Depression is french black metal/DSBM band founded in 2004 by Lord Lokhraed and Herr Suizid. The band is one the most known acts in the DSBM scene counting with 7 studio albums and more other releases. Lord Lokhraed, band’s frontman, is well known in the scene for his multiple projects and being able to play multiple instruments even a deficiency called ectrodactyly (quite impressive!).
