Meshuggah announce Lisbon concert for 40th anniversary tour in 2027

Swedish extreme metal band Meshuggah will perform in Portugal on October 22 2027, bringing their The Forty-Year Anomaly tour to Sagres Campo Pequeno in Lisbon. The concert will feature Periphery and Vildhjarta as special guests.

The show forms part of Meshuggah’s celebration of four decades since the band’s formation in 1987. Known for their technically demanding compositions, complex rhythmic structures and extensive use of polyrhythms, the group have developed a distinctive approach to extreme metal that has influenced generations of musicians across progressive metal and related genres.

Over the course of their career, Meshuggah have released albums including Destroy Erase Improve (1995), Chaosphere (1998), Nothing (2002), obZen (2008) and Immutable (2022). These records trace the evolution of a sound built around tightly controlled rhythmic patterns, low-tuned guitars and intricate arrangements.

The Lisbon concert will also bring together two bands associated with contemporary progressive and technical metal. Periphery, formed in the United States, are known for combining complex guitar work and shifting time signatures with melodic passages and vocals that move between clean singing and heavier styles. Swedish band Vildhjarta, meanwhile, have developed a sound rooted in dissonant guitar textures, syncopated rhythms and the atmospheric intensity often associated with the thall movement.

The event is scheduled for October 22 2027 at Sagres Campo Pequeno in Lisbon. Ticketing details and further information can be followed through the promoter’s official channels.
