The legendary Tom G. Warrior will return to the hallowed ground with TRIUMPH OF DEATH, doing a show exclusively dedicated to the undeniable Hellhammer, his pre-Celtic Frost band, a clear influence to a large percentage of the many musicians that have played the festival throughout the last couple of decades. It will also mark the first Portuguese appearance for PIG DESTROYER’s razor-sharp grindcore, as well as the long-awaited return of the stalwarts of rude black metal PROFANATICA, two veritable powerhouses of American extremity. SADISTIC INTENT, led by the Cortez brothers, will bring their old-school death/thrash metal madness to Portugal for the first time in their 35-year career, a trajectory that, famously, never produced a single full-length album, but nevertheless has given us many reasons to bang our heads. For almost as long, ROTTEN SOUND have been grinding all over the world – the Finns will be celebrating three decades of extremity at Barroselas, and on top of it they will come armed with «Apocalypse», their first album in six years. If after all this brutal noise you crave some extra sophistication, that you will get with the unreal IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT and their disorienting, forward-thinking, unique brand of grandiose black/death. Speaking of forward-thinking, how about some heart-stopping, transcendental funeral doom with the English masters of the genre ESOTERIC?
Besides all those incredible acts, the true planetary metal congregation that is SWR FEST becomes complete with a typically varied line-up: GUTALAX and INFERNO from Czechia, Finns HORNA, GOROD from France, Italians HIDEOUS DIVINITY, MASTER BOOT RECORD and EXTIRPATION, Spaniards CRISIX, GRAVEYARD, ADRIFT, HIMURA and INFRAHUMANO, INSANITY ALERT from Austria, Americans MORTIFERUM and SUFFERING HOUR, Norwegian rockers SAHG, AMKEN from Greece, Swedes BLODSKAM and German thrashers NUCLEAR WARFARE. Last, but by no means least, the Portuguese army will be represented in just about all subgenres with illustrious performances by HOLOCAUSTO CANIBAL, PRAYERS OF SANITY, VAI-TE FODER, BLEEDING DISPLAY, WANDERER, KRYPTO, NECROBODE, BAS ROTTEN, TERROR EMPIRE, PLEDGE, HUNTED SCRIPTUM, NAGASAKI SUNRISE, BASALTO and BIOLENCE!
