One of the cornerstones of Bay Area thrash metal, the veterans DEATH ANGEL will bring their ‘old school’ thrash to the EVILLIVE FESTIVAL.
Hailing from San Francisco, California, DEATH ANGEL emerged from the vibrant thrash scene of the Bay Area in the 80s. The band’s combination of fast dual guitar work with impressive technical proficiency quickly set them apart from their peers, creating a distinctive take on the genre with complex time changes and intricate arrangements. Today, they are considered one of the “big eight” of thrash metal, alongside Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus, and Overkill. Formed in 1982, the band gained underground success with their first two albums, The Ultra-Violence (1987) and Frolic Through the Park (1988), before breaking into the mainstream with Act III (1989). After disbanding in the early 90s, they reunited in 2001 and have been non-stop since, touring and releasing new music with albums like The Art of Dying, The Dream Calls for Blood, The Evil Divide, and Humanicide, the latter earning them a Grammy nomination in 2019.
