“Necrobreed” is the newest and eighth record of the French band Benighted, known for their balanced mix of grindcore and death metal.
The listener can expect the same production, brutal and effective as the one presented on the previous album. With a song construction that has evolved into a consistent smashing trough sound, that can clearly be heard on songs like “Reptilian”, “Psychosilencer”, “Forgive Me Father”, “Leatherface”, “Der Doppelgaenger”, “Cum with Disgust”, and “Versipellis”.
The fans of grindcore will definitely listen a lot to this new release, as it might be one of the best of the year in this particular genre, genre that Benighted also help to shape, at their own way.
Produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Kristian “Kohle” Kohlmannslehner, this album has vocal guests like Trevor Strnad (The Black Dahlia Murder on track 4), Asphodel (öOoOoOoOoOo on track 1), and Arno (Black Bomb A on track 9).
The listener will hear that for a grind record, the guitars of Olivier Gabriel and Emmanuel Dalle are pretty well recorded on the thrash riffs and on the technical parts as well and have a lot of emphasis during the songs, as the growlings of Julien Truchan (with pig squeal here and there) lead the songs forward.
This record ends with two covers: Biotech is Godzilla (Sepultura), and Christraping Black Metal (Marduk), that shows not only a band that can be versatile, but also that can do good covers and transform them into something more defying and fresh, without losing the vibe of the original versions.
