Rock no Rio Febras 2026 with an expanded Three-Day Programme
The Rock no Rio Febras returns between 23 and 25 July 2026, celebrating its fifth edition with its most extensive programme to date. Held at Quinta da Ponte, in São Salvador de Briteiros, the festival continues to strengthen its position within Portugal’s summer music calendar by combining internationally recognised rock acts with established Portuguese artists, while remaining firmly rooted in its community-driven ethos. Organised entirely by volunteers, the event continues to support the social initiatives of the Casa do Povo de Briteiros, making it one of the country’s few festivals where music and community engagement are so closely connected.
Across the main festival days on 24 and 25 July, audiences will be able to experience performances by Wolfmother, The Last Internationale, Clã, Blind Zero, Dapunksportif, The Twist Connection, Them Flying Monkeys, This Penguin Can Fly, Noise At Valve and Correr Andar. The programme offers a broad perspective on contemporary rock, ranging from classic hard rock and blues-infused sounds to alternative, indie and garage rock, bringing together internationally recognised names alongside respected Portuguese artists.
Since its first edition, Rock no Rio Febras has steadily grown beyond its local origins without losing the principles that shaped its identity. Free admission, volunteer organisation and the reinvestment of festival proceeds into local social projects continue to distinguish the event from many larger commercial festivals. This combination of ambitious programming and community commitment has attracted an increasingly diverse audience, welcoming visitors from across Portugal and abroad while preserving the welcoming atmosphere that has become synonymous with the festival.
The 2026 edition also introduces an additional opening day on 23 July, extending the celebrations beyond the traditional weekend programme. Rather than focusing on the main stage, the opening evening embraces a more relaxed atmosphere at Largo 25 de Abril, beside the Rio Febras and adjacent to the festival campsite. Beginning at 9pm, West Coast Man will take audiences on a musical journey through the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, officially launching “Febras Devagarinho”, a warm-up event designed to ease festivalgoers into the weekend. The evening will continue with Crocky Girls, whose energetic performance will raise the tempo ahead of the festival’s two principal days, offering visitors an opportunity to gather by the river before the full programme begins.
The introduction of this opening event reflects the organisers’ continued ambition to enhance the overall festival experience while preserving the relaxed and accessible atmosphere that has become one of Rock no Rio Febras’ defining characteristics. By expanding the programme beyond the main concert days, the festival further reinforces its role as a cultural and social meeting point where live music, local identity and community participation coexist naturally.
Among this year’s headline artists, Wolfmother remain one of the defining names of twenty-first-century hard rock. Formed in Sydney in 2004 by vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale, the band quickly gained international recognition with their self-titled debut album, featuring tracks such as Woman, Joker and the Thief and Mind’s Eye. Drawing inspiration from the heavy blues, psychedelic rock and hard rock of the late 1960s and 1970s, Wolfmother developed a contemporary interpretation of classic rock that earned both commercial success and critical acclaim, including a Grammy Award for Woman. Despite numerous line-up changes over the years, the project has continued under Stockdale’s leadership, releasing a succession of studio albums while maintaining an active touring schedule. Their ability to bridge vintage rock influences with modern songwriting has secured Wolfmother’s place among the most recognisable contemporary hard rock bands and makes them one of the principal attractions of Rock no Rio Febras 2026.
