El Altar del Holocausto bring ECOS TOUR to Portugal
Spanish instrumental post-metal band El Altar del Holocausto will return to Portugal in November for two dates as part of their ECOS TOUR 2026/2027. The concerts are scheduled for 13 November at Cartaxo Sessions, followed by a performance at Woodstock 69 Bar in Porto on 14 November.
The Cartaxo date will also feature Portuguese band Travo, bringing together two acts whose approaches to heavy music draw on different aspects of contemporary rock.
Originally from Spain, El Altar del Holocausto have developed an instrumental sound that combines post-rock, post-metal and doom influences. Their compositions rely on layered guitars, gradual changes in intensity and extended passages that move between atmospheric sections and heavier, more forceful arrangements. Without vocals, the music places the emphasis on instrumental development, dynamics and the relationship between quieter passages and climactic moments.
The band’s distinctive visual identity is another central element of its presentation. Their recognisable monastic-inspired attire and restrained stage presence complement the solemn character of their music, establishing a consistent aesthetic across recordings and live performances.
The current tour supports ECOS, the band’s fifth studio album, released in May 2026. The record consists of six compositions and explores ideas of return, persistence and transformation, drawing inspiration from the cyclical migrations of birds. These themes inform the album’s broader concept and provide the foundation for the band’s latest live performances.
ECOS follows a discography that includes -HE- (2017), Trinidad (2020) and -IT- (2023), documenting the band’s continued development within instrumental heavy music.
At the Cartaxo concert, El Altar del Holocausto will share the stage with Travo, a four-piece band from Braga. Travo combine psychedelic rock and garage rock with progressive and metal influences, using dynamic rhythms, distorted guitars and an energetic approach to performance. Their inclusion offers a contrasting perspective on the broader possibilities of contemporary guitar-driven music.
The two Portuguese dates provide an opportunity to experience the material from ECOS in a live setting, alongside compositions from the band’s earlier catalogue.
