Post Punk Strikes Back Again 7 continues to build a well curated 2026 programme

Post Punk Strikes Back Again 7 returns on 27–29 November 2026 at the Auditório CCOP, opening a new chapter for one of Portugal’s most established festivals dedicated to post-punk, coldwave, darkwave and related genres. Following several successful editions, the move to a more intimate venue reflects the organisers’ intention to create an atmosphere that complements the aesthetic and sonic identity of the festival while continuing to present a carefully curated selection of international and Portuguese artists.

The programme already illustrates the breadth of today’s post-punk landscape. Alongside contemporary acts such as Die Selektion, Ductape, Egyptian Blue, Test Plan, Bloody/Bath, Ecos Tardios, Mouth Ulcers among others, the festival will also welcome David J, one of the most influential figures in the history of post-punk. As bassist and founding member of Bauhaus, and later Love and Rockets, David J helped shape the evolution of alternative music during the late 1970s and 1980s, with his work continuing to influence generations of musicians long after those bands’ formative years. His presence gives this year’s edition an additional historical dimension, placing one of the genre’s pioneering voices alongside artists representing its current evolution.

That balance between established figures and emerging talent has become one of the defining characteristics of Post Punk Strikes Back Again. Rather than focusing solely on legacy acts or exclusively on new names, the festival presents a programme that reflects both the origins of the genre and its continued development. By combining artists with decades of influence alongside bands helping redefine post-punk today, the event offers audiences a broader perspective on a musical movement that continues to evolve while remaining connected to its foundations.

Among those newer names, Mouth Ulcers have quickly established themselves as one of the most promising acts to emerge from the British post-punk revival.

Formed in London in 2025, the quartet combines angular guitars, driving bass lines and atmospheric arrangements with a contemporary approach that draws from the legacy of bands such as Bauhaus and The Cure without merely replicating their sound. Following the release of their debut EP Silent Pictures through LAB Records and an increasingly busy touring schedule across the United Kingdom and mainland Europe, the band has attracted growing attention from both audiences and specialist media. Their inclusion at Post Punk Strikes Back Again 7 underlines the festival’s commitment to presenting artists who are helping shape the next generation of post-punk while sharing the stage with some of the genre’s most enduring figures.
