Tynebound Festival 2026 announces international Black Metal line-up

Tynebound 2026: Reaper Agency UK Expands the Fortress Vision with a New Black Metal Gathering

Following the continued success of Fortress Festival, promoter Reaper Agency UK is expanding its commitment to the black metal underground with Tynebound, a new two-day event taking place on 5–6 September 2026 at Anarchy Brew Co. in Newcastle upon Tyne. Organised in partnership with Fortress Festival and in collaboration with Anarchy Brew Co., the inaugural edition brings together an international line-up that reflects many of the qualities that have established Fortress as one of Europe’s most respected black metal festivals.

Rather than attempting to replicate the scale of larger outdoor festivals, Reaper Agency UK has deliberately opted for a more intimate experience. With attendance limited to approximately 500 people, Tynebound is designed to place artists and audiences in close proximity while maintaining a carefully curated programme focused exclusively on black metal and its neighbouring styles. Alongside the performances, attendees will have access to a selection of exclusive beers brewed by Anarchy Brew Co., including the specially commissioned Fortress IPA, produced specifically for the event.

Headlining the Sunday programme is Finnish melodic black metal outfit Moonlight Sorcery, performing what has been announced as their exclusive United Kingdom appearance of 2026. Since emerging in 2018, the band has become one of Finland’s fastest-rising names in contemporary black metal through a combination of highly melodic guitar work, symphonic arrangements and fantasy-inspired songwriting. Their debut album, Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle, further established the quartet as one of the genre’s most promising new acts, making their return to the United Kingdom one of Tynebound’s principal attractions.

Saturday’s headline performance belongs to Czech avant-garde black metal veterans Inferno, whose appearance will not only be exclusive to the United Kingdom during 2026 but will also serve as the worldwide live premiere of their new stage production, created in support of their forthcoming album The Anthropic Sophisms. Since forming in the late 1990s, Inferno have evolved from traditional black metal into one of the genre’s most adventurous and atmospheric bands, incorporating ritualistic composition, experimental structures and philosophical themes into their work.

Among the most notable additions to the programme is Québec’s Conifère, who will travel to the United Kingdom specifically for Tynebound. The band’s raw yet melodic interpretation of black metal, rooted in the landscapes and cultural identity of French-speaking Canada, has earned increasing recognition within the international underground. French atmospheric black metal project Vespéral also joins the line-up, offering audiences another opportunity to experience one of the project’s increasingly well-received live performances.

The remainder of the programme demonstrates the breadth of contemporary black metal while maintaining a coherent artistic direction. Irish blackened death metal outfit Coscradh will bring their aggressive and uncompromising sound, while English avant-garde collective Lychgate continue to challenge genre conventions through the integration of pipe organ, progressive composition and experimental structures. British death metal act Vacivus and American atmospheric black metal project Blood Countess further broaden the international scope of the festival.

One of the weekend’s most anticipated performances will come from The Infernal Sea, who are scheduled to perform their acclaimed sophomore album The Great Mortality in its entirety to mark the record’s tenth anniversary. The performance revisits an album whose themes surrounding the Black Death gained unexpected contemporary resonance in recent years and remains one of the defining releases within modern British black metal.

Elsewhere, Scottish black metal band Cnoc An Tursa return with material from their latest work, continuing to merge atmospheric black metal with Gaelic folklore and traditional Scottish themes. The elusive Aristarchos will make a rare live appearance, while The Sun’s Journey Through The Night return with a renewed line-up and new material following an extended absence from the stage. Opening the festival is Magnetar, whose appearance will mark the project’s first-ever live performance, adding another exclusive moment to Tynebound’s inaugural edition.

Beyond the line-up itself, Tynebound represents another significant step in the continued development of Reaper Agency UK. Having established Fortress Festival as one of Europe’s leading destinations for black metal, the promoter now extends that philosophy into a more intimate setting without compromising the quality of its programming. The combination of international exclusives, debut performances, anniversary sets and carefully selected underground artists reflects an approach centred on artistic curation rather than commercial scale.

With ticket sales already surpassing sixty percent of the venue’s limited capacity months before the event, Tynebound has generated considerable interest among the international black metal community. For audiences seeking an experience defined by carefully curated performances, close interaction between artists and attendees, and a programme that spans multiple interpretations of contemporary black metal, the inaugural edition promises to become a notable addition to the United Kingdom’s extreme metal calendar.
