Fear Factory confirmed asfirst headliners for Laurus Nobilis
Fear Factory have been confirmed as the first headliners announced for the next edition of Laurus Nobilis, bringing one of the most established names in industrial metal to Portugal.
The American band will headline the festival as part of a programme that continues to take shape, with further artists and details expected to be announced in the coming months.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1990, Fear Factory have developed a distinctive sound based on the combination of industrial metal, extreme metal, electronic elements and mechanical guitar riffs. Their music has frequently explored themes related to technology, artificial intelligence, dystopian futures and the relationship between humanity and machines.
A defining name in industrial metal
Fear Factory established their position within the international metal scene with a series of albums that would become important references for the genre.
Demanufacture, released in 1995, represented a significant step in the band’s development, combining precise, heavily processed guitar work with programmed elements and Burton C. Bell’s contrasting vocal approach.
The band continued to develop these ideas on subsequent releases, including Obsolete in 1998 and Mechanize in 2010. Across their catalogue, Fear Factory maintained an emphasis on rhythmic precision, electronic textures and a production style that reflected the technological themes present throughout their music.
Their influence can be heard across different generations of industrial and modern metal, particularly in the way they incorporated electronic production and machine-like rhythmic structures into a fundamentally heavy sound.
A new chapter with Milo Silvestro
Fear Factory are currently entering another phase with Italian vocalist Milo Silvestro, who joined the band in 2023.
Silvestro made his recording debut with Fear Factory on “Roboticist”, the band’s first single featuring his vocals. The track continues the band’s established industrial and dystopian aesthetic while introducing the current line-up to a new stage in their history.
The arrival of Silvestro followed the departure of founding vocalist Burton C. Bell in 2020 and represents an important change in the band’s vocal identity. Guitarist Dino Cazares remains the central creative figure in the group and continues to lead Fear Factory’s musical direction.
Fear Factory at Laurus Nobilis
The confirmation of Fear Factory as the first headliners places the American band at the centre of the upcoming Laurus Nobilis programme.
For the festival, their appearance brings a band whose catalogue spans more than three decades and includes several albums that have become closely associated with the development of industrial metal.
