Hellhammer Festival 2026 welcomes Portugal’s Voidwomb
The Hellhammer Festival will return between 28 and 30 August 2026, bringing together more than forty bands for three days dedicated to extreme music. Hosted at Kovilovo Resort, near Belgrade, Serbia, the festival continues to strengthen its international profile by presenting artists from across Europe alongside established names in black metal, death metal, hardcore and thrash.
Among the confirmed acts are Dark Funeral, Discharge, Leaves’ Eyes, Atrocity, Severe Torture, Total Chaos, Saturnus, Hideous Divinity, Ancient, Varathron, Mercyless, Vulvectomy and many others. Spread across three days, the programme reflects the festival’s commitment to showcasing a broad spectrum of extreme music while combining internationally recognised artists with emerging acts from different countries.
Representing Portugal at this year’s edition will be Voidwomb, one of the country’s most promising contemporary blackened death metal bands. Their inclusion highlights the continued visibility of Portuguese extreme metal within the European festival circuit and places the group alongside some of the genre’s most respected international names. Performing on the festival’s closing day, Voidwomb will bring their blend of black and death metal to one of south-eastern Europe’s fastest-growing heavy music events.
Since its launch, Hellhammer Open Air Festival has steadily expanded its programme while maintaining a clear focus on underground and extreme music. Beyond the concerts themselves, the event offers camping facilities, a subculture market, tattoo and piercing artists and other activities that contribute to a community-oriented atmosphere. This combination of live music and underground culture has helped establish the festival as a recognised meeting point for metal audiences throughout the Balkan region.
The presence of Portuguese bands such as Voidwomb reflects the increasingly international character of the festival. Alongside established veterans and newer projects from across Europe, the inclusion of artists from Portugal demonstrates the growing recognition of the country’s underground scene and reinforces the festival’s commitment to presenting a geographically diverse line-up without losing its focus on extreme music.
Formed in 2019 in Viana do Castelo, Voidwomb have rapidly established themselves as one of Portugal’s most compelling blackened death metal acts. Created by vocalist M.S. Void, together with brothers Noctvs and F.S. Void, the band introduced its sound through the EP Altars of Cosmic Devotion, released via Iron Bonehead Productions, before taking a significant step forward with the full-length Spiritual Apotheosis following their signing to Avantgarde Music. Their music combines black and death metal with occasional doom influences, characterised by dense atmospheres, melodic depth and an uncompromising approach to songwriting. Consistent live performances at events such as SWR Barroselas Metalfest and other festivals have contributed to their growing international reputation, making their appearance at Hellhammer Open Air Festival another important milestone in the band’s continuing development.
