We are a little more than a month way, and some the anxiety over the arrival of another edition of Wave Gotik Treffen is already felt in the air. Not only in social media, but also in conversations at the underground places in Leipzig, we can see that an event like this has become a part of the city’s identity and tradition. The city gradually prepares itself for the arrival of thousands of alternative music fans within genres such as gothic, electro, industrial, darkwave, folk and metal. It is a miscellaneous of tastes and genres that meet and coexist gracefully every year at this German city. The tolerance and, at the same time, the juncture between so many different groups and cultures is salutary and should be a reference for other segments of humanity.

So far 141 artists have been confirmed, and until May 18th, the first day of the festival, more will be confirmed. Some of them will feature special participations like the north american All Gone Dead who will play an unique reunion show in European ground in 2018. Belgian Siglo XX will also make an exclusive reunion show, while Still Patient? will celebrate their 30th anniversary with a special performance. As for the Swedish act Tiamat, they will perform songs from the albums “Wildhoney” and “Clouds”

Other bands confirmed so far are Arcana, Ataraxia, Black Light Ascension, Cesair, Crisis, Fabrik C, Feuerschwanz, Front Line Assembly, Grave Pleasures, Hekate, Imperium Dekadenz, Kaunan, Les Discrets, Merciful Nuns, Nothgard, Oomph !, Paddy And The Rats, Pyogenesis, Qntal, Raison D’être, Rapalje, Rome, Schandmaul, The Beauty Of Gemina, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Then Comes Silence, Trisomie 21, Vomito Negro, Wardruna , Zeromancer and many more.

To follow the updates make sure that you visit the official website of the event, where you can discover all about the bands on the scene, the venues, order tickets and follow other activities which will unfold around the city of Leipzig, because Wave Gotik Treffen goes far beyond music. There will also be photography exhibitions, literature and poetry sessions, opera events. Resuming, a cultural and artistic wealthy environment, not only about Gothic culture (although it is the most relevant), but a plurality of other micro and sub-cultures.

Leipzig awaits you from the 18th of May onwards and will gladly welcome you.
