Celebrating 30 years of one of the most iconic releases of doom metal “Epicus Doomicus Metallicus”, the masters of classic doom metal Candlemass return with an EP “Death Thy Lover”.
4 years after the last album “Psalms For the Dead”, something that the band said, at the time, it would be their last record. Some months later, Candlemass had the need to still perform live so they recruited Mats Levén for the job. Now the band presents this new EP, the first one recorded with the new vocalist, which has a voice that fits perfectly in the songs. 4 new songs compose this record, with all the elements that Candlemass used the listener during all these years. The guitars of Lars Johansson and Mats Björkman, sound very doom yet very heavy metal also, as we’ll hear in songs like “Death Thy Lover”, and “Sleeping Giant”. “Sinister and Sweet”, and “The Goose” are the other songs that fill the EP to prefill 25 minutes of great music well produced.
To finish a good new: Leif Edling (bass player) is slowly getting better from his chronic fatigue syndrome, and participated in the EP recordings.
