Vreid is a band that used to combine black metal with a good production and kind of a rock n’roll ongoing riffs in the last albums. Well this time things did not went in that direction, but on a more black metal approach with the same production work intact, and putting aside that “black n’roll” feeling. The album is a bit more epic in is essence, although, the risk that bands take when they decide to make an album like this could go either the way: to work out really well and sound fresh, or to lose the identity that the band had. “Haust” and “Sólverv” are good presentations of what the album is and what could we expect this time, but the circle continues round and round these tracks on the following ones. Perhaps some will definitely agree that the band decide to return to the roots without talking about warfare, and some will try to find something else on the album after the third or fourth audition. “Geitaskadl” and some other parts in the record are a glimpse of what this band used to be. Let’s hope that inspiration returns soon to these guys.
