“Golgotha” is the return of W.A.S.P. to the great albums and to what they’re unique: to combine 80’s hard rock with that characteristic heavy metal sick kick. Being their most defying album since “The Crimson Idol”, all the tracks are really deep in their meaning, almost if they were being forged for years and left to endure until the right time to be released comes. Maybe Blackie Lawless felt that it was time to explore his faith and feelings towards it, and other social points of view, nevertheless, wrote some of the best songs ever like the single “Scream”, “Last Runaway”, “Shotgun” and “Hero of the World”. Best was not enough and the band went further, and wrote some of the best melodic compositions like the ballad “Miss You” (this one has a stunning guitar solo) that links really smoothly with “Fallen Under” and “Slaves of The New World Order”, the crescendo in this one challenges everything the band has done before, showing an epic side that somehow the group blinked an eye on previous albums, but this time they’ve nail it, since it sounds very organic and progressive. The album ends up with “Golgotha”, a fantastic way to make us listen to the album just to appreciate once again, the great vocal work of Blackie (the needed), the riffs that connect the songs almost like if it was a one album track, the keyboards that not overtake them but give the melody that they need, and most of all, the nostalgic joy of listen to a band that despite more than 30 years, knows how to produce a great record, proving that who knows, never forgets.
