Steel Panther – Lower the Bar

Steel Panther needs no introduction, since they are worldwide known for innumerous reasons. “Lower the Bar” is the band’s fourth album, originally scheduled for release on the 24th of February 2017 saw its released delayed to March 24 in order for Stix Zadinia (drums) check out rehab.

Music should also be the more important and the listener will find exactly that in this new album, that presents all the Steel Panther ‘s elements to which the fans are used to.

The licks of Satchel guitar are very accurate and catchy, as we can heat in “Goin’ in the Backdoor”, “Anything Goes”, “Poontang Boomerang”, “Wrong Side of the Tracks (Out In Beverley Hills)”, “I Got What You Want”, and “She’s Tight” featuring Robin Zander. You can also notice that Michael Starr voice is still very on point, specially noticeable on the ballads “That’s When You Came In” (re-recorded in a kind of electric version from the previous acoustic album “Live From Lexxi’s Mom’s Garage”), and “Wasted Too Much Time”.

The lyrics are still very flamboyant, fun and crazy, as the twisted sense of humor of this band seems to never fade. The listener will have a good laugh when listening to this album. Although having a very consistent track list, from start to end, compared to other records, we get the feeling it lacks one big hit. Still it’s going to be an album that the band fans will listen a lot while to others it might just pass by.

One thing is undoubted, this band is here to stay, and the bar is still high, since till today there’s not a band quite like this guys. As this album proves it, they manage to play good music and have fun with it.

7/10
