Black Tides Fest V returns with a strong atmospheric Black Metal Line-up

The fifth edition of Black Tides Fest will take place on 21 November 2026 at the Live Music Center in Emden, Germany, continuing its commitment to presenting carefully curated underground extreme metal. Since its inception, the festival has established itself as a meeting point for enthusiasts of atmospheric black metal, doom and related genres, favouring quality over scale and bringing together artists whose performances are defined by atmosphere, intensity and musical depth. This year’s edition will feature Friisk, Morast, Groza and Shagor, four bands that represent different perspectives within contemporary black metal.

Headlining the event are Friisk, whose music is deeply rooted in the landscapes and cultural heritage of East Frisia. Their compositions combine second-wave black metal influences with atmospheric passages and lyrics written in regional dialects, creating an identity that is both musically distinctive and culturally grounded. As organisers of the festival, the band continues to shape Black Tides Fest as a platform dedicated to the underground scene while maintaining a growing international profile.

Joining them are Germany’s Morast, a band recognised for blending death-doom, sludge and black metal into slow, oppressive compositions that emphasise atmosphere as much as weight. Their presence contrasts with the colder, melodic approach of Groza, whose emotionally charged black metal has earned increasing recognition through acclaimed recordings and extensive European touring. Completing the line-up are Dutch act Shagor, whose raw yet melodic interpretation of traditional black metal has established them as one of the notable emerging names within the contemporary underground.
