Heavy Duty Fest returns to Lisbon with Medieval Steel, Elixir and Tarantula

The Heavy Duty Fest will return to Lisbon on December 12 2026 for its second edition, bringing together established names from traditional heavy metal alongside bands representing the genre’s contemporary underground.

The international line-up is led by American band Medieval Steel, who will perform an exclusive Iberian show. Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, the band became a cult name within the US heavy metal underground, particularly following the release of their self-titled 1984 EP and its title track.

British heavy metal act Elixir will also appear, marking the 40th anniversary of The Son of Odin, originally released in 1986. Associated with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), Elixir remain recognised for their contribution to the British underground metal scene of the 1980s.

Portuguese veterans Tarantula complete the festival’s established heavy metal contingent with a special old-school set. Formed in the early 1980s, the band has played a significant role in the development of Portugal’s heavy metal scene.

The programme also features Austrian band Venator, whose sound draws on traditional heavy metal and the influence of the 1980s, and Barcelona-based Wicked Leather, who combine classic heavy metal with darker melodic elements. Portuguese thrash/speed metal band Toxik Attack, from Guimarães, completes the announced line-up.

With a programme spanning traditional heavy metal, NWOBHM, speed metal and thrash, the second edition continues the festival’s focus on classic metal styles and the underground communities that sustain them.

The Heavy Duty Fest takes place on December 12 at RCA Club in Lisbon. Advance tickets are priced at 35€, with tickets at the door listed at 40€.
